Lucy Manley

Painting en plein air is a mainstay of Manley’s practice. Specializing in oils, Manley’s passion lies in painting rugged and wild landscapes during all seasons. Manley travels extensively, near and far, from her studio in Peterborough County searching for traditional landscapes, rural life, and dense wilderness. 
 
Born in Germany in 1947, Manley and her family emigrated to Ontario in 1950. Her interest in studying art, lead her to Sir Sandford Fleming College, Peterborough, where she met David Bierk, Eric Loder and Edwin Matthews and studied Fine Arts Administration. Manley went on to study Contemporary Art Theory at Trent University. 
 
Manley has exhibited extensively in Canada since the 1990s and was an Artist-in-Residence at Bon Echo Provincial Park at Cloyne, Ontario in 1995-6. She currently teaches art classes at Loyalist College in the Continuing Education Department.
