Born in Montreal and growing up near Algonquin Park in northern Ontario, Karen Richardson finds inspiration in the harsh terrain of the Canadian Shield. The forests, rocks, lakes, and rivers that encompass this area fill the artist with restorative energy. Travelling 1/3 of every year by motorcycle, RV, boat, snowmobile, ATV or simply on foot, Richardson explores North America in search for new and exciting landscapes. Her favourite places are the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Newfoundland, the Gaspé and the American Southwest. Primarily self-taught, Richardson teaches painting workshops and paints in her home-based studio in Lindsay, Ontario overlooking peaceful farmland. Richardson’s work can be found in corporate and private collections across Canada.
