‘Tis the Season, for A Holiday Art Market!

Colborne Street Gallery is currently accepting submissions from artists for our 2nd annual holiday art exhibition and market. This seasonal market will feature a wide selection of artwork and will champion original and affordable fine art.

Opening Reception: Thursday, November 21st from 6-8pm

The gallery would like to invite you to submit a portfolio of up to five (5) artworks for consideration. The submissions will be reviewed by our selection committee and confirmation of participation will be sent to artists.

Exhibition Guidelines

  • All artwork must be original, handmade work.

  • Mediums can include painting, drawing, photography, print, sculpture, fibre, metal, and mixed media art.

  • Dimensions of all sizes will be considered. Please note the gallery doors measure 82 x 40 inches.

  • Affordable artwork for this exhibition is considered work that is at a price point of $400 (CAD) or under.

  • There will be work featured in the market at a higher price point, however priority will be given to work priced at $400 and under.

  • Artists are responsible for the delivery and pick up of their work, to and from the gallery.

  • All work must arrive to the gallery wrapped and protected. Should you choose not to wrap your work, please be aware that unwrapped work is at risk of damage and is not the responsibility of the gallery.

  • All work must arrive to the gallery ready to hang. If not, the gallery cannot guarantee the work will be displayed. For example, paintings must have D-rings or a wire firmly secured.

  • Artworks must be for sale. Part of the mandate for this show is to offer those who live in and visit our community, access to original, affordable fine art. A Holiday Art Market allows people to access art and culture in their own community, while supporting artists and the creative economy in Fenelon Falls.

  • Colborne Street Gallery does take a commission of 50% on all sales.

  • Works submitted to the exhibition must be installed for the entire exhibition period unless prior arrangements are agreed to with the Managing Director in writing, or in the event of a sale.

  • Once artwork has been received at the gallery, it is insured under the gallery policy.

  • The artist grants permission for the gallery to photograph the accepted work for marketing, educational, and reference purposes.

  • The gallery is responsible for the installation of the exhibition by an experienced gallery technician.

  • By submitting your portfolio and requested information, the artist acknowledges they have read and agree to the Exhibition Guidelines.

Submission Information

  • Please use the subject line “A Holiday Art Market Submission”. It is imperative that you use this subject line, as this is how the submissions are organized electronically.

  • Please include artist name, mailing address, email address, phone number.

  • Images of artwork. Each image must be labelled with your name and title of the work. For example, JBlaze_WinterLandscape.jpg

  • Image List. Each image submitted must be included on your image list with title, date, year, medium, size, price. For example: John Blaze, Winter Landscape, 2017, oil on canvas, 10 x 10 inches, 12 x 12 inches framed, $200

  • Bio

  • CV

  • Website (optional)

  • Social Media Accounts (if you would like the gallery to tag you in our posts)

  • Artist Statement, 50-100 words max. (optional)

Artist bio, CV, statement, social media accounts, and website are all important parts of the application. Although, some of these are optional, it is incredibly helpful for the gallery to have this information as we use it to promote the exhibition and speak to clients about you and your work.

Please ensure your application package is complete and all requested information is included in one email. The gallery must have complete information regarding artists and work.

Applications that do not follow the submission instructions will automatically be removed from consideration. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
